Tansen was one of the kingdoms ruled by Magar kings up until the mid 17th century. It was converted to a principality once the Magar royalty were defeated by the Shah dynasty. The last Magar king of Tansen was Mukunda Sen who is said to have attacked Kathmandu.
Tansen prominently stands on the western hills in Palpa district. Because of its location, it was part of the trade route between Tibet and Nepal. Today the town falls between Pokhara and Butwal highway and is easily accessible by roads. Tansen has been recently listed on tentative World Heritage Site list.
Visitors to Tansen have plenty of attractions to be occupied with. The town overlooks the Kali Gandaki Valley along with superb panoramic views of Annapurna, Langtang, Ganesh and Manasiri Himalayan ranges.
The palace of Rani Mahal, built on the confluence of Ridi and Kaligandaki River evokes a sense of neoclassical lifestyle. The Ranighat temple at Ridi River is an important Hindu pilgrimage center. Especialy during the month of January, pilgrims through the river to celebrate the Magar festival of Maghe Sankranti. There is also one of Nepal’s oldest hospital built by United Mission to Nepal along with Golghar in the town center. Buddha Stupa, Bhagwati Temple, Whitelake view, Satyawati Lake are other places of interests in Tansen.
Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival at Tribhuvan International airport (Kathmandu):
Upon you arrival to Kathmandu airport Nexus Travels & Tours airport representative will receive you and transfer you to hotel by a private Vehicle. If your time permits you can stroll around Thamel surroundings. Our tour guide will explain about your program in evening.

Day 2
Sightseeing in Kathmandu UNESCO world heritage sites:
After breakfast you will visit main attraction of Kathmandu valley which are listed in world Heritage site such as Swoyambhunath (The Monkey Temple), Bouddhanath Stupa (World biggest Buddhist Stupa), Kathmandu Durbar Square (Ancient palaces of Malla kings old Kathmandu) and evening visit Pashupathinath temple and transfer to Hotel.

Day 3
Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara:
Depart from the beautiful city of Kathmandu behind, and proceed towards next amazing city Pokhara. The city of lakes, Pokhara has a lot to offer. The beautiful sunrise from Sarangkot is unsurpassed, as well as the perfect ride around the lakes and boating in Fewa Lake. Make yourself relaxing and loosen up at Pokhara. The 7-hour drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara may leave you tired.

Day 4
Drive from Pokhara to Tansen (Palpa) 4hrs – 117Km:
You will have your breakfast and get ready to start your journey to historical city Tansen, Palpa which is a beautiful hill town between the Pokhara and Butwal. You will have short over stop at Buddhist Peace Stupa in Pokhara then will continue your drive. Upon your arrival to Palpa, you will drive to Rani Mahal which is also known as the Taj Mahal of Nepal situated at Kaligandaki riverbank with the most elegant color, a neo-classic art and fine architecture that enhances the beautiful palace. Rani Mahal was built in the name of youngest beloved wife Tej Kumari Devi of General Khadga Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana as the symbol of love. Situated at the distance of 13 km from Tansen, the palace looks striking sitting on a massive rock at a isolated and a quiet place. Since the palace was constructed on the edge of the jungle, the jungle was also named as Rani Ban and the stairs leading to the river as Rani Ghat. The river also possesses a religious significance as it is believed that touching the water of the river provides salvation to any sinners. After finishing the sightseeing of Rani Mahal, you will drive back to Tansen Bazar.

Day 5
Drive from Palpa to Lumbini 2hrs – 51km:
Rise early morning and start your hike towards Srinagar Viewpoint. From the top of the viewpoint you can enjoy the panoramic view of Tansen Bazaar as a whole, Madi valley which very famous for terrace farming and beautiful mountain range if the weather is good. After finishing the viewpoint visit, you will descend your hike towards your hotel. You will then enjoy your breakfast you will verge towards the famous spot Tudikhel of Tansen where you will be boarding on to your drive. You will then drive to Lumbini bypassing the Butwal city till you reach Lumbini the birthplace of Gautama Buddha. You will have your lunch and will proceed to explore the birthplace of Gautam Buddha Mayadevi Temple, Pillar of Ashoka and visit many monasteries those residing inside the holy site. You can walk around and enjoy the places on your own.

Day 6
Drive from Lumbini to Chitwan 3.5hrs – 131km:
After your breakfast you will start your journey towards Chitwan. After driving through the E-W Highway, you will reach Chitwan National Park. You will be welcomed by refreshing cold drink and check-in at hotel. You can have your lunch and relax until late afternoon. Around 3pm, you will be guided to Tharu village exploration tour and sunset view at riverbank.

Day 7
Full Day Jungle Safari Activities:
Today you will be busy with the jungle safari activities throughout the day. You will have your tea/coffee early morning and proceed for the Elephant ride Jungle Safari. During your elephant ride jungle tours, you will be viewing many wildlife activities that made Chitwan National park their home. You will come across animals like; different kinds of Deer, Rhinoceros, Wild Boar, Monkey, Leopard, Sloth Bear and the Royal Bengal Tiger if you are lucky. After the Jungle Safari, you will be taken back to hotel for your breakfast. After relaxing for some hours or strolling around on your own you will have your lunch. Later in the afternoon around 3pm you will proceed for another adventure canoe ride trip to the river where you will have a great opportunity to witness the different types of crocodiles very close to you as well as monkeys, and different kinds of birds along the river bank. You will have Jungle walk and visit the Elephant breeding center. You will be seeing calf and information about the Elephant and their lifestyle. Walk back to Jungle Lodge and around 7pm you will be enjoying Tharu culture dance.

Day 8
Drive from Chitwan to Kathmandu 5hrs-170km:
After breakfast you will drive to Kathmandu which is 156 Kms and it can take 5 hours. During the drive, you can enjoy the mountain views, green sceneries, rice terrace fields, vegetable fields and people being engaged in their daily life actions. As you ascend from Naubishe till Thankot, you enter the gateway to the capital city Kathmandu.
Day 9
Transfer to airport for your final departure:
As per your flight schedule, our airport representative will transfer you from your hotel to the airport for your final departure.
