Nestled in between the Karakoram ranges and Himalayas to the south is a placed called Ladakh. As mysterious as its name, Ladakh is a Himalayan treasure, a remote mountainous region that is full of exceptional natural beauty, high passes, glaciers, valleys, rivers and monasteries.
The majority inhabitants of Ladakh are the Ladakhis who share similar culture and lifestyle with Tibetans, as it is with all the communities across the Himalayan belt. Much of Ladakh is above 3000m and is characterized by rugged landscape with sparse settlements. The highest mountains in the Ladakhi Range average less than 6,000 m and has passes around 5,000 m (16,000 ft). Ladakh primarily has a desert landscape and falls on rain shadow region of the Himalayas.
The population practices Tibetan Buddhism and some of the most popular monasteries in the region include Phyang Gompa, Thikse Monastery and Hemis Monastery.
Despite being a dry, arid region with few vegetation, Ladakh is extremely rich in flora and fauna. A total of 225 species of birds have been recorded which includes black-necked crane, robins, finches, redstarts, raven, Eurasian magpie and hoopoe. Among mammals yaks and donkeys are a common sight since they are also a popular means of transport in this remote region. Tibetan antelope, blue sheep, Tibetan Gazelle, Tibetan Wild Ass, Eurasian Lynx are other wild animals found in this region.

Itinerary
Day 1
Fly from Delhi to Leh
In the morning you will fly from Delhi to Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport Leh. On entrance to Ladakh you will meet our representative who will transfer you in the pre-booked hotel. You will take rest and be acclimatized with the higher altitude locality. You can visit the local market of Leh in the evening.
Stay overnight in the hotel.
Day 2
Sightseeing in and around Leh – Shey – Thiksey – Hemis
Today’s schedule will take you for a spectacular sightseeing tour to some important monasteries in the area. You will be visiting Shey Gompa, which is said once to be the summer capital of Ladakh kings, Thiksey Gompa, which is one of the most beautiful constructions in Ladakh and the very well famed Hemis Monastery belonging to Drukpa Enjoin.
Stay overnight in the guest house.
Day 3
Drive from Leh to Likir and trek to Yangthang across Phobe La (9 kms/4 to 5 hrs.):
After enjoying your breakfast you will drive to Likir, which is approximately 58Km ride. It will be the beginning position of your trek. You will trek today to cover a short distance where you will pass through two passes: Phobe La (3580 meters) and Chagatse La (3630 meters). The village of Yangthang is beyond the Chagatse pass.
You shall camp at Yangthang for the night adjacent to a translucent stream.
Day 4
Trek from Yangthang to Hemis Shukpachan across Tsermangchan La (8 kms 2/3 hours)
Your trek today will be trouble-free inspite of the fact that it includes climbing up the pass. The trail will both ascent and descent but will be on moderate slopes. You will trek to the north, dropping down a bit and then cross a stream ascending west towards Tsermangchan La (3750 meters). You will descend down to Hemis Shukpachan after crossing the pass. You can witness several streams bordered by shaded willows and huge barley fields.
Day 5
Trek from Hemis Shukpachan to Ang across Mebtak La (10 kms/ 3 hrs):
Todays trek too will be fairly easy. Your trek will be uphill between two small hills in the west of village located rising until it heads south and ascends up to Mebtak La (3750 meters). This valley is noticeable by prayer flags which looks elegant when the air blows across them and make the flags flutter almost in one pattern. We will continue further down the gorge to Ang from the pass. Ang is a beautiful village with apricot orchards.
You will camp at Ang for overnight stay.
Day 6
Trek from Ang toTemisgam and Nurla (8 km/ 3 hrs) and drive to Leh
On the concluding day of your trek, you will yet again go for an easy trek downhill all the way on the main road. Upon your arrival to Temisgam, your taxi will be waiting for you which will drive you to Leh.
Stay overnight in the hotel.
Day 7
Fly out from Leh to Delhi
After breakfast you will be escorted to Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport Leh from where you will fly to Delhi and then fly to your home country or your next preferred destination.
