Round Annapurna Mountain Biking Tour

Annaurna is perhaps the most popular trekking trails in the world. Today it is increasingly loved by mountain bikers. The Round Annapurna Mountain Biking is an awesome experience that takes you to the base of the Annapurna and Macchapuchre Himals, the tenth highest mountain in the word. We will be riding through forests of pine and oaks, pass deep gorges and springs and along Kali Gandaki River with the backdrop of the majestic Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.

 

We will also visit Tilicho Lake (4,919 m) one of the highest lakes in the Himalayas and cross Thorug La Pass at 5416m. Details

Day 1

Arrival to Kathmandu:

One of the Nexus Travels & Tours airport representatives will receive you from Tibhuvan International Airport (TIA) and transfer you to your hotel. Depending on time availability you can spend the afternoon exploring the sights of the city, shopping for the biking tour in Kathmandu's many adventure supply stores, or relaxing for the trip ahead. Later In the afternoon you will fit your bikes and prepare for the trip ahead.

 

Stay overnight in hotel.

Day 2

Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar:

An early start of the day you will enjoy breakfast with some Himalayan-grown coffee/tea before heading out on the 6hr drive to Besisahar. Driving outside of busy Kathmandu, you'll get to see the beautiful countryside of Nepal with its several green, terraced fields, and there will be time to enjoy the views and have lunch. Once you reach Besisahar, you will begin preparing for the next day's ride.

 

Stay overnight in hotel.

Day 3

Ride from Besisahar to Tal:

After breakfast, it's time to set out on your first day of biking. Starting fresh out of Besisahar you finally will start something you signed for which is a real single track ride. Your path takes you along the Marsyandi River, though you're not yet in the utmost altitude section of the trip, the views you will acquire is simply beautiful. You will reach Tal which is situated in a deep gorge, and surrounded by terraced farms balanced impossibly on the steep slopes of Himalayan foothills.

 

Stay overnight in teahouse. 

Day 4

Ride from Tal to Chame:

It wouldn't be the Himalaya ride if there was no climbing, and today is no exception as you ride your way up. The elevation of Chame, our destination for the day will put you within the "high altitude" category of over 2,500m. Today's route is challenging with steep hills on rugged single track. Thick jungle surrounds you interspersed with vision of the river. You will stay overnight in the village of Chame, a key spot on the Annapurna trekking circuit, and you sure will be in the company of trekkers and local Sherpa verging on their trekking around Annapurna.

Day 5

Ride from Chame to Manang:

You will have a beautiful ride today, as you ascend higher into the Annapurna region, to the village of Manang. Your track widens as the atmosphere changes from jungle to dry alpine and you will finally get the sense of being in the high Himalaya. The ride today isn't too technical, but the surface can be soft in some places with loose rock. Experiencing the rapidly rising altitude, it is always a good idea to take things slow today. At over 3,600m Manang is you will be riding beyond this altitude, and you'll feel the effects as you cycle.

 

You will stay overnight and acclimatize in local cozy trekking teahouse.

Day 6

Manang Rest and Acclimitization Day:

Today will be a rest and acclimatization day and it couldn't be in a better spot. The village of Manang is well-equipped for a cozy rest day with coffee shops and to your surprise you can even visit a movie theater. If you're feeling bold, there are several short side hikes in the vicinity that will offer breathtaking Himalayan views and will help you acclimatize to the altitude. Manang is home to the Manangi people, who blossom in the high altitude environment. A lucky traveler often gets a chance to watch the locals participate in the ancient sports of archery and pony racing.

 

You will continue to stay overnight in a teahouse here.

Day 7

Ride from Manang to Thorong Phedi:

Bidding goodbye to Manang your course points you higher again. You will take the ride slow through the village of Yak Kharka, and further to Thorong Phedi you will ride to the base camp of mighty Thorong La at just under 5,000m. Today’s trail runs along a petite river valley and biking is feasible. However, there are times when the trail gets very rocky in some sections, where carrying your ride will be necessary. Our expert guide will help you navigate the trail safely as you surpass difficult sections along with plenty of narrow foot-and hoof- traffic.

 

Stay overnight in trekking teahouse.

Day 8

Ride from Thorong La:

You will rise up very early today to set out for Thorong La at 5am. This is the Annapurna Circuit's most famous high altitude pass, and the most challenging part of your ride. To reach the top of the pass, more than 1,300m from Thorong Phedi, will involve several steady hours of pushing in the cold and high altitude. You will have assistance from local porters, who will carry your bikes for you, but the climb is still a long struggle that will test your spirits. Once you are at the top at 5,416m, you will see a jaw dropping forest of snowy peaks. You sure will share stories of the day's ride over with your family and colleagues back home.

Day 9

Ride from Thorong La to Kalopani:

With the largely challenging part of your tour behind you it is now for some fun. Now that you are losing elevation, you can go much further and you'll cover more ground today than in the past several days. You will then head out of Muktinath, traversing a small hillside trail that's mildly technical. There will be few sections of push followed by fun and fast singletrack toggles back all the way down to the valley riverbed. You will rejoin the main track in Jomsom and enjoy some tough riding, but with great views trough the lovely traditional village of Tukuche until you reach Kalopani.

 

Stay overnight in a trekking teahouse.

Day 10

Ride from Kalopani to Pokhara:

Today’s trail will be a easy descending river trail that passes the impressive Rupse Waterfalls, where you can stop for a tea break near the mist. You can now gear up for the next section, a swift descent as the trail loses over 1,000m on a winding rocky track with exciting jumps and drops. You will ride all the way into the village of Beni, where you will have some lunch and then load up the bikes for a 3hr drive to Pokhara.

 

Stay overnight in Pokhara.

Day 11

Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu:

You will have breakfast early morning and drive to Kathmandu by tourist coach, which takes about 6hrs. During the drive, you can enjoy the mountain views, green sceneries, rice terrace fields, vegetable fields and people being engaged in their daily life actions. As you ascend from Naubishe till Thankot, you enter the gateway to the capital city Kathmandu.

Day 12

Departure:

As per your flight schedule, our airport representative will transfer you from your hotel to the airport for your final departure.
