Mt. Kailash Mansarovar Tour is perhaps one of the best trips ever to Tibet- the roof of the world. The major highlights of the tour includes three days of Kora around Mt. Kailash, exploration of Lake Manasarovar and adventurous crossing of the two highest passes in the world- Drolma La and Kongtang Lhamo pass(5236m). These two passes offer magnificent panorama of Mt. Shishapangma(5620m), the 14th highest mountain in the world, as well as Mt. Gurla Mandhata (7694m). Much of the journey takes place through dreamlike and exotic Tibetan landscape that is dotted with lakes, waterfalls, monasteries and verdant wildlife. Among other attractions of this tour is visit to Yarlung Tsangpo River, Peaku Tso Lake and Chiu Monastery. The trek begins and ends in Rasuwagadhi in Rasuwa district, just 100km north of Kathmandu, along the Nepal-Tibet border point.
Worshipped by Buddhist and Hindus as the precise “Midpoint of Universe” Mount Kailash is the most holy Mountain of Asia. This mountain is believed to be the elite habitat of Hindu God Shiva and Goddess Parvati by most of the Hindu people. There is a strong belief that accomplishing the strenuous journey to Mount Kailash and nearby Manasarovar Lake one can attain the ultimate salvation from all the known and unknown sins ever committed in life. This divine tour commonly named Kailash Darshan is practiced to get cleansed from the clutches of ignorance and delusion of life.
Tibet offers exciting trail, fabulous monasteries, exotic view of world’s tallest peaks, and natural panorama with the spiritual atmosphere which demands every human being to visit this place at least once in their lifetime. The Kailash range is also alleged to be the dwelling of the originator of different religion. Manasarovar Lake which is situated nearby Mountain Kailash, you can witness the massive number of high Tibetan priests and devotees chanting and praying at the shore of Manasarovar. Combination of two Sanskrit words “Manas” meaning mind and “Sarovar” meaning lake, this Manasarovar (4580m) was created to show the supremacy of Brahma’s( the God of creator) mind as per Hindu Scriptures. Whereas According to Buddhist legends, Lord Buddha meditated nearby the lake for long time to get the knowledge to the fullest. Hence People believe in purifying their soul and physical body by drinking its holy water and revolving the lake around its peripheries. Moreover, primordial legend exclaims that dipping into its cold water awards us to enter the heaven after death.
On your arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, you will be greeted with flower garlands/Khadas by our representative and taken to your hotel. Later you will visit office for paperwork. Stay overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
After delicious breakfast at hotel, your tour guide will pick you up from the hotel for a day sightseeing around Kathmandu. Today you will visit several UNESCO World Heritage monuments, including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudha Stupa, Swayambhu Stupa (Monkey Temple), Budanilkantha and Pashupatinath Temple. After completing the tour, you will return to your hotel by late afternoon. Stay overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Following breakfast, your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel for a sightseeing tour of Patan Durbar Square. Patan Durbar Square is a world heritage site rich in Newari art and architecture. Here you will visit the main Durbar Square courtyard, Krishna Mandir, the statue of Bhupatindra Malla, Talejun Bhawani, Vishwanath Temple among others. If time permits, you may also take a side trip to Bungamati village, to experience authentic Newari culture.
Following lunch in Patan, you will travel to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bhaktapur is also equally famous for excellent Newari architecture and traditional Newari culture. 55-Window Palace, Nyatapola Temple, Pottery Square are some of the sites you will visit in the square. Following the completion of the tour in Bhaktapur you will travel back to Kathmandu. Stay overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Free day in Kathmandu for trip preparation and Tibet visa formalities. You can spend the day relaxing in your hotel or visiting nearby markets. You can attend a small trip preparation presentation in the office. Meanwhile the last minute formalities to obtain Tibet visa will be completed. Stay overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Today your Tibet trip begins. After breakfast at the hotel, our representative will pick you up from hotel in Kathmandu and drive you towards Kerung (Nepal side). On this 170km long journey you will pass though small mountain roads with beautiful views of waterfall, rivers & forest. After arriving in Kerung (Nepal side), you will meet our Tibetan guide and driver at Nepal- China (Tibet) border and complete necessary immigration paper work. Shortly afterwards you will cross Nepal-China border and drive to Kerung (Tibetan side). Stay overnight at a hotel in Kerung.
Kerung (3560m): One day rest in Kerung for acclimatization and preparation for higher altitude journey. Today you can visit local markets and acclimatize with the weather. Stay overnight at a hotel in Kerung.
Following warm breakfast, you will start our journey to Saga through Ghantula pass (5226 meter) and Jerkyung La pass while observing the beautiful Yarlung Tsangpo River. You will experience unique Tibetan landscape and pass by several Tibetan nomadic settlements. Stay overnight in a hotel in Saga.
After taking breakfast, you will start the journey to Lake Mansarovar. En route you will pass through local villages and cross Mayum La Pass before arriving at Dungyun Tso Lake. On this trip you will enjoy the first glimpses of holy Mt. Kailash. Stay overnight in Mansarovar.
Today is a special day. Following breakfast you will explore Lake Mansarovar and perform ritual puja. You will visit Chiu Monastery located on the northwest side of the lake and capture magnificent views of Mt. Kailash and Mt. Gurlamandata along with Lake Lahang Tso (Rakshas Tal). You will continue our drive to Darchen which is also known as base camp of Mount Kailash. Stay overnight in Darchen.
Today the sacred Kailash Kora begins. Following morning breakfast, you will take a bus ride to Yamadwar which is at a 7km distance. Once in Yamadwar, you will start hiking, starting at Lha Chu Valley passing by beautiful hills, cliffs meadows and waterfalls under clear blue sky. You will enjoy towering views of north face of Mt. Kailash all the way through. Dirapuk Monastery is a 13th century Buddhist monastery. Stay overnight in Dirapuk.
You will wake up before Sunrise and travel from Derapuk to Zuthulpuk. You will hike up the Dolma Chu Valley and cross over Dolma La pass (5630 meter), the highest pass in Tibet, and then drop down to Zuthulpuk Monastery. The views of the sacred Lake Gaurikunda (Thukpe Dzingbu) and Mt. Kailash from Zuthulpuk Monastery is impressive. Stay overnight at a lodge.
Today is the last day of the Kailash Kora. Early morning, you will finish the last hiking stretch of 10km over the Dzongdud plain and reach Dzongdud Mani wall, the end point of the hiking. The hike will last for around 2 hrs. You will then have our morning breakfast before returning to Saga on a bus. Stay overnight in Saga.
Following morning breakfast, you will start our return journey from Saga to Kerung (Nepal side). You will cross the Nepal-China (Tibet) border and arrive at Kerung on the Nepalese side. Stay overnight in Kerung.
Enjoy delicious morning breakfast and then start your drive from Kerung to Kathmandu via Rasuwagadhi. You will reach Kathmandu by evening. Stay overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
