Located about 140km way from Kathmandu, Pokhara is undoubtedly the most popular tourist destination in Nepal. A visit to Nepal would not be complete without seeing this gem of a valley.
First off your tour starts by visiting four world heritage monuments in Kathmandu: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Budhanath, Swoymabhunath and Pashupatinath. Thamel, the tourist hub of Kathmandu and a backpackers’ paradise, is another attraction for tourists. Thereafter you will drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu, which takes about 5 hours through scenic highway.
Pokhara is the trekking gateway to the famed Annaurna region. Every year thousands of trekkers step into Pokhara to make their way to Annapurna region. Even those travelers simply visiting Pokhara are enthralled by the beautiful closeup views of Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Dhualagiri, the tenth and seventh highest mountains in the world. The reflection of Mt. Fishtail (Macchapuchre) on the Phewa Lake is equally mesmerizing.
Pokhara has of late turned into an adventurers paradise with myriad of activities to do. You can go for paragliding from Sarangkot, boat on Phewa and Begnas Lake, visit Davi’s waterfalls and bat caves, rafting on Seti River, meditation and yoga, motorcycle tours and go for short treks to world peace stupa and nearby Poonhill.
